How to replace your Broken or Cracked iPhone Screen

Here's a guide on how to JAILBREAK your iPhone iOS 4.2.1:

This guide will show you how to replace your iPhone screen.
Before you proceed I suggest you backup any or all information currently stored on your iPhone.

Tools Required:
-Replacement Glass. I found a good quality replacement screen with digitizer here for cheap. They also carry replacement LCD screens and other iPhone replacement/reparation tools.
-#00 Phillips screwdriver
-Razor blade, or wedging/scraping tool
-Q-tips and rubbing alcohol
-Hair dryer or heat gun
-Scissors and double-sided tape or superglue
-Optional: Tweezers/small suction cup

Step 1: At the bottom of your iPhone there are 2 screws on either side of the USB connector. Use the #00 Phillips screwdriver to remove those screws. Don't worry about removing the SIM card.

Step 2: Using the wedgescraping tool, or razor blade (works best), split the metal from the rubber around the iPhone and lift the screen. Be careful not to fully detach the screen as it is still connected to the iPhone!

Optional: Use the suction cup, if purchased, and place the suction cup above the home button and gently pull up.

Step 3: Search for flaps on the top right, holding the screen and phone together. There should be labels 1 and 2 on a bright circular orange sticker on the flaps. Lift these two flaps with your wedge tool.

Step 4: Search for a third sticker under the #2 flap. In order to release the #3 connection, you must life the black "clamp." Once the clamp is lifted the screen will be free from the iPhone, simply remove it.

Step 5: With the #00 phillips screwdriver remove 6 more screws. There are 5 screws on the side rails (3 on the side with flaps and 2 on the other side). The last screw is on the top right. Don't worry about the screw placement as they are all the same. Some screws may have black tape over them, simply remove the black tape, as it is unnecessary.

Step 6: Separate the LCD screen from the glass. Put your wedge between the rails and wedge the inner piece out. The LCD needs to slide down towards the Home button to avoid the top flanges. The metal does not deform, so don't be afraid to apply pressure.

Step 7: Remove any broken glass or shards from the metal frame. Using the hair dryer or heat gun is recommended in removing the pieces of glass. Also use the Q-tips and rubbing alcohol to remove any adhesive. Careful not to bend the metal while applying heat as the heat causes it to easily deform!

Step 8: Prepare the new glass screen. If using double sided tape, be sure to cut out the correct size. If using superglue, be sure you do not apply it near the home button. Only apply your choice of adhesive to the black plastic on the bottom or top. Stay away from the middle. You wouldn't want to glue the home button or listening piece on the top. Let the adhesive set. If using double sided tape, use tweezers to shape it, avoid getting oils on the tape from your fingers. Be sure to remove the plastic cover, if any, on the new glass.

Step 9: Reassemble the screen/LCD. Put the LCD screen and glass back together. The screen can fit one of two ways, in which only one is correct. On one side, the rail is much longer. It may be easier to slide the LCD in from the bottom.

Step 10: Reassemble the iPhone. Re-read Steps 5 - 1 and reverse engineer the iPhone. Be sure to take your time when reassembling flaps #1 to #3.

How to Replace a Broken Sony DSC-T90 Digital Camera LCD Screen

This is a step-by-step guide on how to replace a broken LCD screen for the Sony DSC T90 Digital Camera.

Tools Required:
-Replacement LCD screen. Can be bought HERE.
-Small Phillips Screw driver.
-Soldering Iron
-Solder

Step 1: Remove the battery. There are 4 screws total holding the outer shell of the camera. One on each corner (red circles). To reach the bottom two, you have to slide the camera cover up. Vise versa for the top two. *There may be a few extra screws you have to unscrew*

Step 2: Separate the front and back housings carefully. Be careful not to pry it apart as they are connected together by the LCD ribbon cables. Once you have separated the two housings unplug the LCD ribbon cables. (there should be three. One big one and two small ones). *There may be a few extra screws you have to unscrew*

Step 3: Remove the LCD screen from the housing. You'll have to carefully lift the internal components of the camera in order to remove the LCD screen.

Step 4: Get your new LCD screen ready and prep the soldering iron.
Here is a side-by-side comparison of the screens:

Step 5: Remove the solder that's holding the LCD screen to the touch sensor. (see picture)

Step 6: After removing the solder separate the LCD screen and the touch sensor. Be sure to save the white plastic backing, as we will be needing this for later.

Step 7: Re-solder the new LCD screen to the old touch sensor. After re-soldering, carefully place the LCD back onto the white plastic backing. Make sure the edges lock in.

Step 8: Re-connect the LCD ribbons (all three) and re-assemble the camera (reverse engineering!). All done.

You can pretty much apply the concept of removing/engineering to any Digital Camera.

Here are some repair parts for the iphone:

Before proceeding, it is always a good idea to back up all the data you have on your phone through iTunes.
DISCLAIMER: I recommend that only older iPod users such as the iPhone 3G jailbreak using this method. This method is only for untethered, older iOS hardware. The newer iOS hardware is tethered, therefore you would have to re-jailbreak every time you reboot your iPhone. If this does not bother, then proceed with jailbreaking.

Step 1: Download iUserbar. http://iuserbarnew.ourtoolbar.com/
Step 2: In iUserbar, click "Downloads" then click your iOs 4.2.1 firmware.
Step 3: In iUserbar, click "Downloads" then click redsn0w.
Step 4: Open redsn0w and click Browse.
Step 5: Find your device's IPSW file from which you downloaded from Step 2. Open the file.
Step 6: Redsn0w will display "IPSW successfully idtenified." Click NEXT to continue.
Step 7: Redsn0w will ask, "Please select which options you would like to have." Be sure to select "Install Cydia" box.
Step 8: Redsn0w will ask that you make sure your device is powered OFF and PLUGGED IN to your computer. Click NEXT if this is true.
Step 9: Redsn0w will ask you to put your device into DFU mode.
            DFU Mode:

             1. Hold the Power button for 3 seconds.
             2. Continue holding the Power button whilst simultaneously holding the Home button for 10 more seconds.
             3. Continue holding the Home button, but release the Power button for 30 seconds. Remember to continue holding the Home button after you release the Power button.
Note: If done improperly your device display will have a DFU Mode Failed message. You will need to go back to Step 1.

Step 10: Once this processes has finished, your device will reboot and you will have the Cydia icon. Done.
